Embracing the Change
Hello, I’m Wang Tianyi. My topic is “embracing the change” and I am glad to have the opportunity to share my feelings about the changes around me.
My story starts with a public bus line, 701, it’s a bus that runs just in front of my community. It seems to be a commonplace for everyone, but it means a lot to me, especially when I was a child. Because there is a stop just in front of my community and it runs to Yali High School which is the high school that I always dream to go to, so bus 701 connects Yali High School and me in a way. Whenever I see the 701 running, I would always picture the days I’m taking that bus to go to Yali.
This summer, the dream of studying at Yali finally came true. However, bus 701 is no longer my first choice. Because the subway station in front of my community just went into operation and it passes by Yali High school. Compared with bus 701, the subway is a much better choice, as it’s underground, there are no traffic jams. What’s more, it runs in schedule which means there are seldom any delays. Therefore, it’s quite natural for me to embrace the change, to take the subway to go to school every day, rather than the bus 701.
You see, there are many other big changes in our daily life, people are ordering takeout on Meituan instead of going to restaurants, traveling by Didi instead of taking taxis, and paying by scanning fingerprint instead of cash. Faced with those big changes in life, we did not make a fuss, but embraced it, as if it originally belongs to our lives.
I believe that embracing change is the instinct of human evolution.
I remember one morning a few weeks ago, I was taking the metro in the morning, and a piece of news was broadcasted repeatedly: the Shenzhou 13 manned spacecraft launched successfully and completed the docking with the Tiangong space station. A female astronaut named Wang Yaping aroused my interest. Not because she will be stationed in the space station in long-term for the first time, but because the fact that she majored in media at university, a major that is basically unrelated to space crafting. perhaps her career should have been fixed as a journalist or a new media person. But she changed the trajectory of her life and flied into the sky. Being the first female astronaut stationed in space, she made a miracle in Chinese space crafting history, it’s a beautiful story for Chinese to proudly pass on from generation to generation.
Right now, Wang Yaping is far above the sky, but I think there is something similar between us. Because my dream major is media, the major that Wang Yaping once studied.
In three years, I might be studying in the United States or the United Kingdom, in a university on the other side of the world, studying the most advanced media technology in the world. However, what happens after this? What will my life be like? I have no idea because there are many opportunities. Just like the saying in "Forrest Gump": Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get. However, I do know that whatever changes I will be facing, I would face it bravely.
I watched the latest movie “No Time to Die” last week,
In the film "No Time to Die", James Bond died. He did not die by the sword, nor the bullet. Surprisingly, He died from a man-made genetic virus called Hercules. Humans may possess the divine power of God to transform humans themselves. Is the advancement of genetic technology a curse or a blessing? It depends on who hold it.
In the movie, 007 stopped the disaster created by mankind once again. Although James Bond is destined to leave, this time he has no regrets and he is no longer indifferent. For the first time in the movie, he has a family, a daughter, and love.
Love is always the foundation for human beings to face changes bravely.
Love is also the driving force for people to sacrifice themselves to change the world.
The world changes too fast. Perhaps the only thing that remains constant in the world is “change” itself.
Ten or twenty years later, our parents will grow older eventually, and we will take over the burden of dealing with all the changes. Steve Jobs said, “is there any other reason to be here other than to put a dent in the world?”
Zuckerberg founded Facebook when he was 20, Tesla invented the AC generator at 24, Heisenberg won the Nobel Prize of physics at the age of 31, and Edison developed the light bulb at 32.
Even at a young age, these people are causing these changes and created a better world. They set a role model for us all, that is we can create our own changes and make the world better, we can embrace the change.
Yes, we can. Because we keep learning and innovating.
Yes, we can. Because we have trust and love.
Yes, we can. Because we are born in a great world.
Yes, we can.
